We Love, Cautiously
But our enthusiasm is tempered. Or story opens with a cautionary tale. Not just cautionary, but tragic in the Aristotelian sense.Throughout we tell stories of pity and terror. We do not believe that advancing technology improves the world by itself. It needs institutions that regulate and manage it. Such institutions are built on a framework of ideas. We must know what management is needed and against which dangers we must guard. We labor mightily to build such a framework.
Find Your Slice
We have called this work a book: it can be read in a linear order. But it is more accurately a cloud of related, linked ideas. It allows for many paths through the material, tailored for the reader's interest. Those who care about the careful construction of mathematical models will find much to love early on. By contrast, those looking for political fire may wish to skip straight to the action. Others may appreciate most the inspiring human interest stories that pop up throughout. The tags can be used to find a personalized path through the story.

Multiple Audiences
We seek to build a team. There is no one person who "alone can fix it." Threaded through this work are periodic reminders of the disparate talents of the "Heroes of the Old New Economy" who built our social order. We seek to inspire an analogous team. Since we need to inspire disparate talent, we speak to many audiences at the same time. Our interface is meant to allow experts to find the slice which speaks to them best.
Worldview Leads to A Call To Action
The early portion of our story actively avoids action. We seek to build a worldview. "Don't just do something: stand there." We first find our footing. But once we have firmly planted our feet, we don't shy awake from throwing punches. We beg a reader impatient with the early cautious academic tone to stick with it. The power of careful thought is that it eventually enables action.
